Echinococcus multilocularis is found in cats, dogs and
foxes. It is not thought to be a risk in the UK, but is
widespread in various parts of Europe. Under the Pet
Travel Scheme, it is a mandatory requirement that all
cats and dogs travelling to mainland Europe are wormed
against this parasite prior to their return to the UK. |

Countries with Mosquito's
|
Heartworm
 |
Comments |
Please note, Heart worm is the
result of the dog being bitten by an infected
mosquito, similar to how malaria is spread. The
larva burrows into a dog's skin, and take about three
months to mature. Once they do, they make their way to
the heart and surrounding tissues, and reproduce.
Drontal Plus does not kill heart
worm, if you live or intend taking your dog to a
country that has mosquitoes, and a risk of heart worm,
you should use a heart worm treatment in addition
to regular worming treatment. |
