There have recently been some Microsoft updates, which may effect your
browser settings. First let me say there is nothing harmful on this site, no
popup's and nothing that will download to your PC
However, this site does have JavaScript's included, without which menu,
sound files etc would not work.
Take For Example this Active X code
<embed
src="../media/dogs.wav" hidden="true" autostart="true">
As you can see, the purpose is to play the wave file called dogs.wav
However, if you have your security settings set too high, a piece of code
like that will trigger a Active X warning. This is very bad, because it
makes it look like this site is up to no good.
It would have been much better if the warning actually said the page
wanted to play a sound file !!
This site also uses JavaScript for the navigation menu, at the top of
each page you should see the menu bar
If You cannot see those words "Help
|Forum|Misc etc" then your also blocking JavaScript on this site.
Like you, I don't trust every site on the
internet, and have adjusted my popup blocker etc to block general zones.
However you should not block things in your Trusted Zone, after all
that's why they are called trusted !
Internet Explorer
At the bottom right of
your Browser, you will see the type of zone your in.

If you double click that Icon, you will
bring up the Internet Security Properties, the default zone for most sites
are in "Internet" so viewing this site may show the globe Icon.
If you have Active X or JavaScript set to
disable then things wont work right for you on this site.
If you have the settings set as "Prompt" then
you will get that annoying yellow bar warn you when you visit sites with
JavaScript or Active X controls installed.
Don't change the default settings, you
don't need to make any changes to the internet zone, but to make things work
correctly, you can select the
"Trusted
Sites" there you can enable Active X and
JavaScript, then later add sites you know and trust.
Don't get fooled with certificates, assigned or
unassigned, anyone can get a certificate, they mean nothing, other than
throwing money at a company who suppose to know who you are "They Don't"
Trust This Site
If you are happy to add this site to your
trusted zone, just select the Trusted Sites Icon, then click the Sites
button, then add the site address to the list.

If all is well you
will see this new Icon when viewing this site.
Remember, you can adjust how you want the
trusted zone to work, but if you set everything to prompt, you will
get annoying prompts every time you view a page that may have a sound file,
or JavaScript in it.
Menu Code
var Navigator_Supported =
Navigator_Supported ;
if (Navigator_Supported != null && Navigator_Supported == true)
{
Frame_Supported = true
setDefaultMenuColor("#1a562f", "white", "black");
setBGColor("white");
setBanner("../theme/logo.gif","","www.westhighlandwhite.co.uk") ;
addMenu("Help", "Help",
"","../content/help.html");
Note, this site has no Auto Popup's
either, the forums Private Messaging system has also had the auto popup
removed. There are pages on this site that will open a new window,
but only when you click the link !
You can also hold down your SHIFT key before
clicking any link, this will also open the page in a new window.
