Training Your Westie, Keywords

Name: Your Westie will quickly learn its name, each time you play with your puppy repeatedly say its name Make sure that the rest of the family also uses the same name.

Sit: Sitting on command, hold the food bowl above the puppy so it will sit in order to keep its eye on the bowl. As it does so say the word 'Sit' then reward it with the meal. Do not teach your dog to beg!

Wait: With the puppy in the sit position and wearing its collar and lead, command it to 'wait' Remain standing in front of the puppy until it is settled. Do not pull on the lead keep it loose. 

Come: Slowly walk backward away from the puppy to the end of the lead and tell the puppy to 'Come'

Always finish any exercise by praising the puppy. Stroking and foods are powerful rewards, pleased tone of voice is also important. 'Its the way you say it'
