Make sure you change the Nylabone from the puppy to adult when the time comes. Avoid giving products like raw hide, which large chunks can be swallowed and can lodge in the dogs throat or cause an internal blockage. Keep an eye on your Westie's teeth, if there is a build up of tartar, purchase a tooth brush and tooth paste especially for dogs. Natural bones are very abrasive, you may also be tempted to give a smaller bone, which your Westie will crunch up and swallow pieces. Many people think that they're dogs teeth are like those of the wild carnivores, wolves etc. Fossils of dog like creatures have shown far stronger, thicker enamel than those of today's dogs. Don't risk wearing away your dogs teeth and causing pain. Another misbelieve is that bones provide a high level of calcium, They don't ! They do however disturbed the digestive system.
