West Highland White
Distinctive White Coat
The West Highland White Terrier, has a distinctive white coat, his
experience immediately tells you he's a Westie. Unlike his ancestors who had
brown coats, the Westie is white from head to tail.
There has been times when the odd Westie will show a light brown streak
down his back when he is younger, this soon disappearing as he gets older.
This is from his decedents, and shoulder be confused with the brown fur that
Westie's sometimes have when they have a health problem.
Malasab shampoo usually helps with a heath problem, but any light brown
fur from his descendents should disappear soon.
The story goes that Colonel Malcolm accidently shot one of his terriers
(Brown) and embarked on developing the white Westie to make sure this could
never happen again.
If you have a Westie that has brown around his mouth or brown around his
paws, again this is a separate problem, while Malasab shampoo is good for
their paws too, it may well be what he's eating that's causing his brown
mouth, try giving regular chews, stay away from commercial foods, they all
have additives and preservatives.
West Highland White Terriers should be white all over, with two types of
fur layers |
