West Highland White
Sleeping
Terriers generally need around 13 hours of sleep every day, but will
usually adjust to sleeping patterns where they live. Westie's will take
several naps throughout the day.
Your Westie could be in a deep sleep, even snoring, but it only takes the
slightest strange sound to wake them up and their on their guard. I know
Bobby is wide away within milliseconds when the postman visits.
The West Highland White terrier likes to sleep just about anywhere, if
you buy lots of beds don't be surprised if you find your Westie ignoring
them from time to time, and just sleeping on the floor.
They sleep in some awkward positions too, sometime with their head
propped up against something hard, like the corner of a book shelf, which
looks very uncomfortable, but don't worry, they soon move around again.
You may find your Westie shifting about at night, sleeping in his bed,
then on the floor, then on your bed, and the cycle begins all over again.
When you buy a bed, clean it out everyday, Westie's don't like the smell
of earth that they may have brought in a few hours before, just give it
shake out, and if its something you can wash, give it a wash once a week. |
