West Highland White Question TimeDogs eat grass right ? Well only when they are unwell... Grass does not have any special healing powers, it simply a product that stimulates the body to be sick. Eating grass is a sure sign that something is wrong. Excess acid (Yellow bile) can sometimes be seen when your Westie is sick, sometimes there is nothing to worry about, but if it continues the next day, its time to visit the vet. Tummy upsets can also be cause by the food your giving, "Nothing" beats home cooked "Human" food, if your feeding any commercial brand, its time to consider feeding real, good food. While your Westie is unwell, he may stop eating for the day, but is back to normal the next day. Chicken and rice is a good food to give at this time, and is easier to digest that other meat's. Don't use chemicals on grass, after all they can make your dog very unwell
