Never :)- Most if not all Westie pups will be ready to leave mum at around 6-8 weeks, its best if you can buy a pup that is 8 weeks old, he will be much stronger in build, should be less susceptible to problems. When you visit a home breeder and pick a pup, ask if you can wait until he is 8 weeks old before collecting him, this should not be a problem, as most good home breeders will keep the pup with mum at leased until they are 8 weeks old. Remember although the pup is eating, you might consider a milk supplement like Lactol puppy milk, this will help build the strength of the pup while he is growing and getting use to now having mum around anymore. Puppies soon adapt to their new home, if you have two pups together this will be even better and they will soon settle down in their new home within a few days !
