Adverse Reaction

The Suspected Adverse Reaction Surveillance Scheme is a national surveillance scheme run by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate. The scheme aims to record and monitor reports of suspected adverse reactions to veterinary medicines in both animals (any species) and humans.

If your vet prescribes a medicine and there is a adverse reaction, (A harmful reaction which id due to exposure to a veterinary medicine given to an animal at its normal dose) In other words, it is any harmful side effect to a medicine given by your vet, then it is law that your vet must contact the surveillance team and report it.

Please report any adverse reaction to any medicine prescribed by your vet, to the vet who gave the medicine, and make them aware of the adverse reaction surveillance scheme, whose address is given below.
