What are the conditions
-
They must be fitted with a microchip
-
Be vaccinated against rabies and given booster vaccinations
as recommended
-
Pets must be at least 3 months old and already have a
microchip before they can be vaccinated
-
Your pet needs to have a blood test 30 days after the last
injection. The result of the blood test will be returned to your vet, and in
order to pass, the titre (antibody) level must be 0.5 or more. If the titre
level is less than required, then the vaccination and test must be repeated.
The blood test is required after the initial
vaccination course. Provided that booster vaccinations are given at the
correct times, no further blood test will be required in future years.
-
Blood
tested by a Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) recognized
laboratory to confirm the vaccine has been effective six months before
entering Britain.
-
Your pet must have a signed official health certificate certifying
the above conditions have been met.
-
You may also need a separate certificate for your pet to
show that it meets the health requirements of the countries you are visiting
-
Your pet must be treated for certain parasites 24-48 hours
before re-entering the UK. (tape worm and ticks)
you must have a certificate signed by an official vet
confirming this has been done.
