The two types of lice to affect dogs, sucking lice and biting lice, are small,
flattened insects. They are spread through direct contact between dogs, or on
grooming tools that have come in contact with other dogs with lice, and bedding. These lice can be seen by the naked
eye. Infestation with lice is called pediculosis and is uncommon in the UK and in the USA, perhaps because lice are easily killed by routine
insecticide treatment used to control fleas. Dogs living in very overcrowded or Unhygienic conditions, those with matted and
un-groomed coats, are most likely to suffer from lice.
Some dogs carry lice without showing any adverse symptoms,
but on other dogs these parasites may produce the following: Itchiness, Smell to
the coat, Seborrhea, Anemia
