Evolution of dog food, Scottish Highland
The
Highland breed has lived for centuries in the rugged remote Scottish
Highlands. The extremely harsh conditions created a process of natural
selection, where only the fittest and most adaptable animals survived.
Originally there were two distinct classes, the slightly smaller and
usually black Kyloe, whose primary domain was the islands off the west coast
of northern Scotland; the other, a larger animal generally reddish in colour,
whose territory was the remote Highlands of Scotland.
Crockery
and dishes were stored in cabinets similar to this one, which is from the
later periods of Highland history.
Scotland is the land of wildlife including eagles, foxes, otters and
birdlife in abundance. It is also the land of wild goats and near to
Camusnagaul there are many wild Scottish Goats, they are extremely clever
and just fantastic to watch.
Blackface sheep, Monastery records show that monks in the Twelfth Century
raised sheep that are the progenitors of the modern Scottish Blackface
breed.
