This prompted the start of a new industry in commercial pet food, convenient and time
saving.
Little was known about pet nutrition, and as a means to sell this food,
manufacturers used fancy words and terms most people did not understand. Most meat for
dogs during these times was horse meat and many pets developed serious illnesses.
Today and for a many number of years manufacturers of pet food have played on
words, with more and more people showing concern and asking questions, pet food advertisements
have been adapted to today's trend.
Many pet food manufacturers now label with
"No by-products" in yet another attempt to make you believe that only
the best goes into the food.
