The bottom dip is not cut, its a little tuck in the center of the material, 4 inches long with 1/4 inch of material folded over and stitched, the excess material is on the inside of the coat.

Cut
the shape out on some paper first to make sure you get it right.
When you are happy with that, place the paper on top of the Tartan
material and hold it place with a few pins. Cut the material around the
edge of the paper.
