Snakes And Ladders

Another old time favourite is Snakes and Ladders, this game is played by two or more people, using a dice and token. The board is marked with numbered squares, which the player moves to on the throw of a dice.

Some of the squares have ladders leading to higher positions on the board. While some of the squares have snakes leading to a lower positions on the board. Anyone landing an a square with a ladder starting on it, then moves up the ladder, while anyone landing on a square with a snake starting on it, then moves down the snake.

There are variations to this game, but the one that's more popular is where each player takes it in turn to throw the dice, if the player throws a double six he/she can throw the dice again, the move is then the total sum of the two throws.

To start the game each player places his/her token on the square marked number 1 then in a clockwise direction take it in turn to throw the dice. Moving forward by the total shown on the dice. If completion of this move, a player lands on a square with a ladder, they climb up the ladder, if they land on a snake they slide down the snake.

The first person to get to the last square is the winner, very simply game, and one often played.
