Westie Family

Mating West Highland White

It is important that your Westie is mated at the right time if she is to conceive. You should discuss this matter with your vet and perhaps have a test done which a blood sample taken can reveal the optimum time to mate. The test is useful if a previous mating failed.

You should chose a Westie stud according to your needs, if your bitch is a champion Cruft's winner, then you will probable not be interested in this article anyway. However those of you who are enthusiastic and would love to experience the joy of having your Westie give birth to a wonderful litter of pups, the choice of stud will be down to availability, and the knowledge you may have of a friends Westie.

There are no guarantees that two top dogs will produce other top dogs, However they will produce Westie's, and in my book that is all that matters. Mating your dog purely to make money is wrong.
