Westie Family

Birthday

9.40a.m. Pup number five was born. Again Loulou broke the sack, bit the cord and started the whole cleaning process. This time we managed to bag up the placenta before Loulou could get to it. I could not believe my eyes, five pups all suckling away. Again Loulou settled down so I gave her another drink of water. Rich made a cuppa for us both and we sat for a while totally bewildered by the whole experience. I made another phone call to the vets. I told the vet the good news, three boys and two girls. I was just about to put the phone down when I shouted ?hold on?

10.05a.m. Pup number six was born. Loulou continued with the same routine as the other pups and settled down yet again but this time with six pups feeding. The vet asked if we could bring the pups and Loulou to the surgery for a check up, so an appointment was made for the evening.

The next few hours Rich, Bruce and I just sat and watched Loulou and the pups sleep. Every so often I would check Loulou and the pups to make sure they were all warm and still breathing. (Actually I checked every fifteen mins)

Children came home from school and normal routine was put into action. The children could not believe it when they counted six pups.
