A number of British seaside resorts have tidal pools which fill up with seawater at every high-tide, be careful of them. Going to the seaside is one of our oldest and favourite pastimes.

In fact, every year more than 25 million holidays and 110 million day trips are taken at the British seaside. The UK has 9,040 miles of coastline - that's a staggering 14,549km of seaside to choose from, so get exploring!  

• Talk to your children about coastal dangers. Ask them what they think the biggest dangers are on the coast.
• Take advantage of high and low tides. Some beaches disappear at high tide, which can be dangerous if you become cut off.
• Only buy inflatable that have a good length of rope attached. That way, you can tether them or keep hold of them.
• Consider buying a UV pop up tent for little ones to rest or take a nap out of the sun.
• Know the facilities available before you go. Some beaches, especially those backed by sand dunes, set aside picnic areas
